Iowa Roommate Agreement

Iowa tenants, if you are going to share rental accommodation with one or more other people, you need to sign a Roommate Agreement to put down in writing each person's rights and responsibilities.

The landlord should also sign the Agreement. Provisions of the Agreement include:

• how rent and utilities are to be paid;
• overnight guests;
• code of conduct;
• subletting;
• responsibilities of each of the roommates;
• abandonment of the premises by a roommate.
