Songwriting Contract with Right of Reversion

Music publishers, use this template to prepare a Songwriting Contract with Right of Reversion to acquire title to a songwriter's composition for publication purposes.

• The songwriter transfers to the publisher all right and title to a musical work, in return for royalty payments.
• The publisher agrees to publish the work within a certain time period, failing which the writer can demand return of the composition (reversion, i.e. title to the work reverts to the songwriter).
• The songwriter acknowledges that he ⁄ she will not receive any portion of monies received by the publisher from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).
