Translation Rights Agreement
Publishers, secure the right to translate and republish an original literary work with this Translation Rights Agreement.
- The owner of the rights to the original work grants the publisher the exclusive right in perpetuity to translate the work from English into a different language, and to publish and sell the translated work throughout a designated territory.
- The publisher will pay the owner a percentage royalty based on the local list price for sales of the translation. Upon execution of the Agreement, the publisher will pay a non-refundable minimum guaranteed royalty, to be treated as an advance against royalties coming due thereafter.
- The publisher agrees not to sell any copies as remainders for a stated period of time after the first publication. No royalty will be paid on remainders sold below publisher's cost.
- The owner reserves the right to approve the final translation.
- The publisher is responsible for paying all costs, expenses and taxes in connection with the translation.
- The publisher is responsible for obtaining copyright protection for the translation in the territory (if available), and for taking any action necessary to protect against infringement.
- The owner retains ownership of copyright in the original work, and of all of its trademarks and logos used in connection with the translation.
- The publisher must comply with all applicable export restrictions.
